The wait is finally over! The Baillie Gifford Borders Book Festival started today with Harmony Garden buzzing! 1,600 children enjoyed a great Schools Gala Programme with fantastic opportunities for young readers and writers to become actively involved in the world of writing, to explore their own creativity, and above all, to have fun with words.
Melvyn Bragg, who’ll be back on stage on Friday at 6pm, joined us at the Opening Party and got a rousing reception from Alan, a Tuba player of the Scottish Borders Youth Brass Band, which performed at the party. Our brilliant festival photographer Alex Hewitt is capturing the spirit of the Baillie Gifford Borders Book Festival in pictures. Have a look at out first album from day one here on Flickr.
