The Baillie Gifford Borders Book Festival has come to close, with thousands enjoying four wonderful days in Melrose, with Sir Michael Parkinson making a long-awaited return.

‘The most important thing is that we are in a situation where we’ve had two days of absolute sunshine, we’ve had people outside, people talking to each other, people congregating, and the atmosphere around here has been absolutely terrific.’ Alistair Moffat, Festival Director

‘This has been the second time I have been to the festival, and I think it’s one of the most intimate, most friendly and most fun of all the festivals I go to. I absolutely love coming here.’ Steve Backshall

‘It’s not just about the shows that everyone comes to see. The Orchard this year has just exploded, people spent entire days enjoying themselves with their families. That’s been wonderful. It’s a good family atmosphere, we want to share that with lots of other people. Come and join us next year.’ Michael Moore, Chairman
