Getting to Melrose

Getting to Melrose

Melrose, perhaps the most picturesque town in the Scottish Borders, is easily accessible. Edinburgh (approx. 35 miles), Glasgow and Newcastle (approx. 70 miles) are all within striking distance.

The Train

We’ve been talking about it for years and finally, last September, rail travel made a welcome return to the Borders! The journey takes less than one hour from Edinburgh, through beautiful countryside to Tweedbank Station, a handy 1. 5 miles from the festival site. If you fancy a nice 20-minute stroll to Harmony from the train, just follow the book festival signs to Melrose. If walking isn’t for you, transport will be available at Tweedbank to get you to town - check back in early June. There are regular trains from Edinburgh Waverley (every 30 minutes at peak times)

PARKING

Parking: St. Mary’s Road will be fully closed from Weds 15 - Mon 20 June. There will be NO PARKING on the festival site, with the exception of limited blue badge parking in the Orchard, depending on weather. This can be accessed from the Melrose Parish Church end of the road but blue badges must be displayed. Parking will be available on the hard standing at Annay Road rugby pitch, which is only a couple of minutes’ walk away from Harmony (on the Melrose to Newstead road - follow the one way signs down Abbey Street). This is subject to weather conditions and strictly NO parking on the rugby pitch. Additional parking may also be on offer at Melrose Primary School but please refer to our website for updates. All parking in Melrose town centre is within easy reach of the festival venues. There is a DROP OFF ONLY zone on Annay Road but please note there is no parking in this area and a oneway system will be in operation.
